an internet news agency for children’s rights

Welcome to Media Voices for Children

ffI’m a newcomer to the world of blogging but I wanted a place on the site where I could draw your attention to work that I think is particularly outstanding. On February 2nd, I attended a photographic exhibit that was opening at the Capitol Rotunda of the Senate Office Building. The exhibit, sponsored by GoodWeave, formerly known as Rugmark, is the work of my longtime friend and collaborator, Robin Romano, who has spent over ten years photographing children in the carpet industries of India, Nepal and Pakistan.

FACES OF FREEDOM distills some of the most powerful and hopeful images from the extraordinary body of work. Also, that evening, Senator Tom Harkin was acknowledged for his years of leadership and work on behalf of laboring children worldwide. Through the generosity of Nina Smith, GoodWeave and Robin, we are able to bring you the full FACES OF FREEDOM show here on our new site. You can learn more about GoodWeave’s work by visiting their web site at www.goodweave.org

In the weeks ahead, we’ll be adding video and still resources from around the world. The single unifying theme is children. If you have videos you’d like us to consider for the site, please contact us.
