Nauru Detention: An End to Childhood
Refugees languish on Nauru for "processing" of claims to asylum in Australia, which is really a term of art for indefinite detention, given that Australia has said that they will never be resettled in that country. Conditions are brutal, and both adults and children are showing signs of great physical and mental distress. That seems to be the point, for the Australian government, which is standing firm against mounting outcry that such treatment of vulnerable refugee families constitutes torture.
